Bheema Falls in Javadhi Hills - Near Thiruvannamalai
Javadhi hills - Twenty-two kilometres uphill of Nambiampattu is Jamunamarathur - a relatively bustling hamlet. Attractions here are the Kollappan lake, a vast expanse of water, where you can ride on a boat for a measly fee. There is also the Bheema falls where, if the fancy takes you, bathing is possible and free. The Thiruvanamalai administration is trying to promote Jamunamarathur as a tourist point, but the cement road to the falls is the only evidence of this. Alangayam and Kavallur (which has a space observatory) are the other places one may visit. A word of caution. You cannot gad about the Javadhi hills without the permission of the Forest Department. Moreover, accommodation is limited with the rest houses under the Forest Department being the only decent places to shack up for the night.
